“New Vision” Featured in ek – Maison de Campagne
The “New Vision” residence in Kythira, designed by M3 Architects, was featured in ek – Maison de Campagne, presenting a contemporary home shaped by the island’s landscape, natural materials and uninterrupted views.
Located in Myrtolagada, approximately two kilometres north of Chora, the residence occupies an 11-acre sloping property at an altitude of 245 metres. The site is surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation, olive trees, native shrubs and traditional dry-stone walls, with views towards the Venetian Castle, the settlement and Hytra islet.
The house was designed for a family of four, with the aim of creating a year-round residence that blends naturally into its surroundings. Its three levels follow the slope of the land, reducing the building’s visual impact while allowing every main space to benefit from the view.
The living areas include enclosed interiors, sheltered and open-air spaces for dining and relaxation, as well as areas dedicated to swimming and outdoor activities. The principal rooms, guest accommodation and children’s spaces are arranged across the ground floor, while service areas are incorporated into the underground level. A smaller upper volume provides greater privacy for the parents.
White surfaces, local stone, timber details and large openings define the architectural character of the residence. The restrained volumes and clean lines create a contemporary interpretation of Kytherian architecture, while terraces, pergolas and landscaped paths connect the house with the surrounding terrain.
The project reflects the design philosophy of M3 Architects: architecture that responds to the site, respects the natural environment and combines functionality with refined contemporary aesthetics.
